How do I apply?
Awards applications are only available online during specified application periods
(see deadlines). During open awards periods, applications can be completed via the Artadia website. To learn about eligibility requirements and link to begin your online application, please click here.
Which U.S. cities are Artadia participating
cities, and why?
Artadia operates in cities that have demonstrated a commitment to the arts
through the strength of their art schools and institutions, and by the active
community involvement of local artists. Artadia currently operates in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago,
Houston, and the San Francisco Bay Area, and will expand to other cities across
the United States in the years to come.
What work should I submit?
Previous jurors have recommended that artists submit work that has been created
within the past three years. Though you may submit more than one slide of
the same artwork, we recommend that you provide a representative sample of
the breadth of your creative work.
If I've applied before, do I need to register with Artadia's online application?
Only applicants who have applied previously to Artadia via the online e-grant application will already have a login and password. All new applicants to Artadia, and those who have applied in the past with our paper only application must create a log in for the e-grant/cuerate online application.
Do I need to complete the entire online application once I log on?
No. You can log in and out of the application as many times as you wish. Please always be sure to save the information you have entered before logging out.
How will I know if my application was received?
Artadia will acknowledge receipt of your application with a confirmation email, once your digital application is completed and submitted.
Does Artadia give project-based awards?
No. Artadia's awards are unrestricted. Artists may use the grant however they
please. Selections are based upon the merit of past work.
Are Artadia awards only for emerging artists?
No. Visual artists at all stages of their careers may apply.
May I submit publications and promotional
material as supporting documentation?
No. Due to the number of applications that we receive we can only review your
online application, DVD/CDs and/or VHS tapes.
Can collaborative teams apply for this award?
Collaboratives are welcome to apply with a single application. One person from the collaborative should be listed as the contact person for that application. Please use last name field to enter in the name of the collaborative on the application. In the address field, please enter "c/o contact name" before street address. If you are both a member of a collective and an individual artist, you may only apply once per awards cycle.
Are video/sound artists eligible for the Artadia Award?
Yes, the panel will consider applications by video/sound artists who create works
for the gallery/museum context. Up to 5 minutes
of work on DVD/CD or VHS will be reviewed. Feature length commercial films and documentaries,
music videos, and commercial music projects are not eligible.
Are filmmakers eligible for the Artadia Award?
Artadia does not fund feature length documentary or commercial film projects.
How will the panel review my images?
All eight images will be viewed in sets of four. The panel will first see the
images labeled 1-4, then 5-8. Up to 5 minutes of video work
will be viewed.

Will Artadia return my video/media?
If you are not selected for an Artadia Award, Artadia will return video/media only if you include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your media submission. Artadia cannot be responsible for lost or damaged materials.
Are past ArtCouncil grant recipients eligible
to apply for Artadia Awards?
Past ArtCouncil and Artadia grant recipients who have received awards of less
than $10,000 may reapply.
If I am NOT selected, may I reapply in future
rounds?
Yes, artists are encouraged to reapply in subsequent Artadia awards cycles,
which occur bi-annually in Artadia program cities.
Does Artadia purchase art?
No, we are not a collecting institution.
