Melanie Schiff graduated with an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her photographs capture everyday intimate moments and the sublime often hidden in ephemera. Still-lifes and portraits evoke an appreciation for passing moments and a connection between humanness and the environment that surrounds us.

“In my self-portraits, I am interested in the idea of being present in the body, and relating that meditation state to my work. These images expand upon the still life, transforming the body into object, while working on combining formal elements along with a primal gesture that connects the body to nature.”
